A 15th Century Carved Walnut and Polychrome Sculpture
The crowned Madonna, seated and wearing a generously folded full cloak, which falls to the ground. The Christ child sits in the bend of her left arm, supported by her hand.
The group is carved "in the round" and retains much of the original polychrome and gilded decoration.
Northern France, circa 1450.
